French Language Health Services Advisory Committee
On June 4, 2009, Ontario's Office of Francophone Affairs released a revised definition of Francophone to better reflect the diverse Francophone population. Read the Office of Francophone Affairs' media release and their questions and answers regarding the revised definition.
LHINs are mandated to establish local French language health services advisory committees. The mandate of these advisory committees is to engage a community of diverse persons and organizations involved with the local health system on an ongoing basis. To this end, the HNHB LHIN is recruiting members to our French Language Health Services Advisory Committee (FLHSAC).
The FLHSAC will be a multi-sectoral committee, reflecting the continuum of care with the responsibility to advise the LHIN on how to:
- Increase knowledge and awareness of health needs of the francophone population
- Build capacity in HNHB LHIN communities to provide quality French language health services
- Integrate principles of the French Language Health Services Act (FLHSA) in the LHIN’s health transformation initiatives and decision making
If you are a leader or decision maker working in French language identified or designated health and social service providers connected to francophone communities, you have a valued role in helping to achieve equitable health care for French-speaking people living in the HNHB LHIN.
If you are interested in this exciting volunteer opportunity, please review the draft terms of reference (available in English and French) and complete this application form (in English or French - the French is available on the French side of the website under Notre RLISS) by January 23, 2009.
Successful candidates will be contacted by the selection committee for an interview.
Interim FLHS Committee
The French Languages Health Services (FLHS) Interim Committee meets on a regular basis. It draws on the health planning knowledge of former Francophone health planning networks. Among other activities, the FLHS Interim Committee is developing a recruitment process to establish the permanent HNHB LHIN FLHS Advisory Committee. As the HNHB LHIN develops this process, the Ministry is establishing regulations concerning how the LHINs will engage the Francophone community.
